Russia may introduce a toll for trucks on regional roads
Russia may introduce mandatory fees for trucks to travel on regional roads.
The corresponding contract worth 73.1 million rubles was posted on the website of the Unified Information System in the field of procurement. The contractor must adapt the concept of the already existing Platon payment collection system.
The new project will focus on highways that are not federally owned. It is assumed that the fee will be charged to compensate for the damage that vehicles weighing over 12 tons cause to roads. Currently, money is charged from truck drivers only for driving on federal highways.
The development of the concept of the Plato analogue should be completed by December 30, 2025.
