Travel along the M-12 highway from Yekaterinburg to Tyumen will be free.

The section of the highway from Yekaterinburg to Tyumen, which has become part of the federal highway M-12 Vostok, will remain free of charge. This was reported to RBC Tyumen by the press service of Uralupravtodor, which serves this section of the highway.

The ministry noted that the highway from Yekaterinburg to Tyumen is planned to become fully four-lane in 2026.

At the same time, other sections of the M-12 highway, which are being built by the Avtodor state company, will be toll-free. So, she is engaged in the construction of a section of the highway from the village of Dyurtyuli (Republic of Bashkortostan) to the village of Achit (Sverdlovsk region), which runs through the territories of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Perm Krai and Sverdlovsk Region.

"Currently, the fare for the future expressway from the village of Dyurtyuli to the village of Achit, including in the Sverdlovsk region, has not been approved," Avtodor told RBC Tyumen.

For example, driving along the section of the M-12 expressway from Moscow to Kazan for drivers of category I vehicles (motorcycles and passenger cars no more than two meters high) will cost 5.3 thousand rubles. And for drivers of trucks, tourist and intercity buses, the fare is from 10.4 to 11.7 thousand rubles. The M-7 Volga motorway, which ends in Ufa, remains a free alternative to this route.

According to the government decree of 2023, the M-12 highway was decided to be extended by including the M-7 Kazan—Dyurtyuli highway section in its composition. In addition, the M-12 will include the Dyurtyuli—Achit section under construction, the Achit— Yekaterinburg section of the R-242 Perm—Yekaterinburg highway, as well as the R-351 Yekaterinburg—Tyumen highway.

The Vostok motorway is part of the Western Europe—Western China international transport route. At the moment, it starts in Moscow and ends in Tyumen. Construction of the highway began in the summer of 2020. In 2022, it was decided to extend the M-12 to Vladivostok with exits to China, Mongolia and North Korea.
